2.5-Volt Precision Voltage Reference Diode manufactured by National Semiconductor (and later Texas Instruments). This low-overhead linear integrated circuit behaves electrically as a highly stable 2.5V Zener shunt regulator, packaged inside a standard 3-pin through-hole TO-92 plastic housing ("BZ" suffix matching a tight 1% initial accuracy zone). It functions by using an internal dynamic bandgap core combined with active trimming networks to maintain a rock-solid 2.5V reference rail that is virtually immune to shifts in operating current, time, and ambient temperature. It is universally deployed as the primary precision reference baseline for analog-to-digital converters (ADCs), high-accuracy battery-charging circuits, digital voltmeters, and precision sensor signal conditioning loops. (Industry Equals: National Semiconductor LM336BZ-2.5, Texas Instruments LM336BZ-25, Analog Devices AD580, Linear Technology LT1009CZ, Maxim LM336Z-2.5, onsemi LM336Z25).
