Monolithic 6-Digit Hexadecimal MOS-to-LED Common-Anode Segment Digit Driver / Buffer IC, engineered explicitly to interface low-power MOS digital clock chips and early microprocessors directly to multiplexed common-anode light-emitting diode (LED) displays [INS8246N, INS8212N]. It integrates six independent, high-drive bipolar Darlington transistor channels on a single substrate to execute continuous high-current multiplex switching loops [ILD252-675, INS8202N]. Operating with a dedicated low-voltage DC logic supply rail, it provides a maximum 1.2W total power dissipation ceiling and high source current-carrying capabilities (typically up to 250mA per channel) to eliminate brightness degradation and line voltage sags during rapid numerical digit tracking runs under continuous duty cycles, housed in a standard 14-pin through-hole plastic dual in-line package (PDIP-14) configuration layout. Originally manufactured by NTE Electronics (ECG) as part of their high-reliability television, radar console, and bench instrument solid-state replacement line (exact industry replacement match: NTE75497; exact legacy cross-reference equals: National Semiconductor DS75497N / Fairchild F75497).
