It pairs two independent gallium arsenide (GaAs) infrared emitting diodes optically coupled to high-sensitivity NPN silicon photodarlington transistors, providing thousands of volts of galvanic safety isolation and an exceptionally high current transfer ratio (CTR) to interface micro-amp logic inputs cleanly with high-current industrial indicator circuits, housed in a standard 8-pin through-hole plastic dual in-line package (PDIP-8) layout.
