Dual General-Purpose Operational Amplifier manufactured by Motorola (and later Texas Instruments). This integrated circuit packages two independent, internally frequency-compensated operational amplifiers into a single 8-pin plastic dual-in-line package (DIP), with each internal amplifier loop behaving identically to the industry-standard µA741 but omitting offset-null pins to save physical space. It functions by utilizing a high-common-mode input voltage range and absolute short-circuit protection to smoothly amplify low-frequency analog audio or voltage tracking variations without entering a state of hardware latch-up. It saw vast historical implementation across dual-channel consumer stereo mixers, active analog filter networks, voltage follower circuits, and early industrial data-logger tracking boards. (Industry Equals: Motorola MC1458P, Texas Instruments MC1458P, National Semiconductor LM1458N, Signetics MC1458N, Fairchild µA1458TC, RCA CA1458E). [1, 2, 3, 4]
