DS12885
Real-Time Clock (RTC) with NVRAM manufactured by Dallas Semiconductor (Maxim Integrated). This device represents the modernized, pin-compatible upgrade to the older DS1285 clock module, expanding internal user memory space to 114 bytes of non-volatile scratchpad NVRAM. It functions identically by running a self-contained calendar and time-tracking architecture while providing enhanced bus interface logic to natively interface with high-speed multiplexed intel or Motorola microprocessor buses without executing wait-states. It was universally implemented across 1990s Pentium-class personal computer motherboards, commercial laser printers, high-end telecom switches, and industrial point-of-sale computer terminals.
