DAC-08EP
8-Bit High-Speed Multiplying Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC) manufactured by Precision Monolithics Inc. (PMI, later Analog Devices). This monolithic integrated circuit packages an advanced R-2R ladder network, high-speed current switches, and an internal reference control amplifier inside a 16-pin plastic dual-in-line layout frame. It functions by intercepting an 8-bit parallel digital binary byte from a processor data bus and transforming it into a highly linear differential current output with a fast 85-nanosecond settling time response. It was universally deployed in high-speed digital audio mixers, CRT display vector generators, automated test equipment (ATE) calibration channels, and high-frequency digital synthesis circuits. (Industry Equals: PMI DAC-08EP, Analog Devices DAC08EPZ, Texas Instruments DAC08, Motorola MC1408, National Semiconductor DAC0800CCN, Fairchild DAC08).
